Corner Windows

Corner windows initially gained popularity in the United States after World War II, when architects and home builders began using them in post-war housing communities. Although these designs fell out of favor years later, their many benefits have returned them to the forefront of today’s finest architectural designs.

Rocky Mountain Windows & Doors is proud to offer these versatile and long-lasting window systems to our customers. Corner door and window options combine exceptional quality and durability with maximum energy efficiency. These designs are most highly prized, however, for the aesthetic value they bring to your home.

Corner Window Benefits Inside & Out

On the exterior of your home, corner windows are uniquely effective for breaking up exterior massing and creating unique visual interest. On the inside, they allow sunlight to enter the room from multiple angles, increasing the efficacy and duration of natural lighting.

These designs provide amazing view opportunities as well, ideal for capturing Utah’s dramatic natural beauty. Living and great rooms, dining rooms and master bedrooms are ideal locations for installing corner windows. However, these architectural features are appropriate for any location in the home.

Corner Window Design Options

To provide for larger sized windows, many corner models are designed with a center support post, or mull post. This configuration provides ample structural support with minimal impact on sight lines and view.

Thanks to this innovative structural design, you can select sizes up to 96 inches tall and 96 inches wide on one side (72 inches wide on the other side). Lincoln Windows manufactures this oversized corner window design, which is available in vinyl- or aluminum-clad materials as well as primed (paintable) or natural wood.

You will also have your choice of hardware options and operability. Traditional angled designs use operable casement windows. However, you can also select fixed glass if you prefer. For a more traditional look, add girds to provide the appearance of multi-light glass.

Adding New Corner Windows & Doors

If your home does not currently have corner windows, you may be able to add them without making major structural modifications. We can create the illusion of a corner window by installing two casement or tilt-and-turn windows butted against a structural corner.

Consider also the flexibility of adding a folding corner door. For example, Win-Dor’s folding hybrid window and door systems are ideal for corner locations. Durable and low-maintenance, the Win-Dor systems use aluminum frames clad with vinyl.

For maximum insulating value and weather resistance, you may also add insulated or impact-resistant glass. If you prefer to omit blinds or shades, you can ensure privacy with textured glass. Whatever options you prefer, we can create the perfect design to enhance your home.
